I'm sure it's out there. My focus is on the Radeon Pro portfolio of products.

I've only used the Radeon Pro cards and not the gaming/consumer varieties. The W7900 is my day to day card and it works great with Unreal.

the 3090 has 24gb and the W7900 has double that at 48gb. If your projects are using high resolution footage, lots of layers or are, in general, hitting that threshold, it might be worth raising that ceiling, so to speak.

@@garydvisualz thank you for the prompt reply :D I will strongly consider the amd workstation graphics once HIP has been maturely supported in offline render engines. The 48gb is very tempting and I am a big fan of the optional open-source driver stack in Linux. :) Thanks again for the great video.

For sure! 8gb will handle fairly large datasets and the viewports use OpenGL.

Blender how supports AMD HIP nativly and has super scaling across multiple GPUs. We showed a 7GPU system at SigGraph and there are some brief videos of this online. I'll be doing more in Blender soon. Killer support for AMD.

They are part of the default install of 3ds Max. When you create a Particle Flow object, there is a node in the Particle View called "Preset Flow"

I don’t recall, but it’s worth mentioning that you can manually override/control both in the control panel by setting low/high fan speed overrides when any one or more particular software is running. In this example, you could say to crank the fan when Lumion is rendering, if you desired.

I’ve never tried it. It’s really more for the professional content creators doing heavy lift 2D pixel and 3D polygon creation and manipulation. 32gb is likely overkill for off the shelf game titles that are designed to work on far less GPU memory.

where did you buy it please?

It comes with some adapters but I'm not positive which or the quantity. Mine arrived in bubble wrap and tape from the North Pole. ;)

I haven't tried it. You coudl feasibly put one in an eGPU enclosure and test on a compatible Mac. I've done that with the Radeon PRO WX9100 and W5700 and they both worked great.

Apple has the radeon w6000x series (eg w6800x and w6900x), which would have more official support for mac.

Yep same, im sick of trying to get a 3090 but sadly because of arnold and other cuda based workflow its the only option.

​@@yasaipicles6295 The 3090 is not quite as fast as I had hoped (5 month waitlist to get), but it's still much faster than the 20 series or using a threadripper (though the TR starts re-rendering much faster). Also, Arnold GPU in Max isn't stable on the RTX cards (I haven't tried the Quadros though), but it's stable in Maya, so I typically do the GPU rendering stuff in Maya and recreate those shaders in Max.

It was intentional. I wanted to add a full CPU workload in the background as opposed to a second GPU workload. To have the full feature set of Arnold users still primarily opt for the CPU flavor.

@@garydvisualz I figured a CPU workload was intentional, I just found it ironic because that's the only way you could run Arnold with an AMD GPU. I haven't noticed anything missing in the GPU flavor compared to CPU. There are some configuration settings for quality and distributed workloads, but those are really only important for final renders which don't need to be interactive (i.e. I only use GPU rendering for interactive renders). There used to be restrictions such as SSS not working on the GPU, but that's no longer the case.

@@hjups I could have used any CPU workload(s). Tools used in this exercise are not really relevant to my point.

A tip: you can watch movies at KaldroStream. Been using it for watching loads of movies recently.

When this was recorded, it was free.

I got to see them at the one-off show they did at NASA and it was mind-blowing. I try to see them as much as possible anymore. One of my dogs is named Nick Rhodes. ;)
